The 2026 Australasian Croupier Championship has been run and won, with The Star Brisbane’s Stephanie Lidgard emerging victorious from the 19-strong field.
Held at Crown Melbourne from 18 to 21 October, the Australasian Croupier Championship brings together the region’s most skilled gaming professionals and tests competitors across multiple disciplines, including blackjack, baccarat and roulette. Participants are assessed on technical proficiency, accuracy, game knowledge, professionalism, customer service and their ability to perform under pressure.
Lidgard progressed through three days of intensive competition before overcoming a field of finalists to secure the championship title.
“To be named the Australasian Croupier Champion is an incredible honor and it still feels surreal – it’s definitely been the highlight of my career thus far,” she said.
“Competing against so many talented professionals from across the region was such an amazing experience and even though it was a competition, everyone was there for each other and cheering each other on.
“I’m extremely proud to bring the trophy home to The Star Brisbane – I couldn’t have done it without the support of our team.”
Ameet Patel, CEO of The Star Brisbane and The Star Gold Coast, also expressed his pride at Lidgard’s achievement.
“Stephanie has demonstrated extraordinary skill, professionalism and composure throughout the competition, and we’re incredibly proud to see her crowned the Australasian Croupier Champion,” he said.
“Our team members are at the heart of every great guest experience, and Stephanie’s success highlights the caliber of talent we have at The Star Brisbane.
“On behalf of everyone at The Star, congratulations to Stephanie on this well-earned achievement and for representing The Star Brisbane and our organization with such distinction.”
This is the second time in three years that are dealer from one of The Star’s Queensland integrated resorts has taken down the title, with Joanne Lee, representing The Star Gold Coast, named the region’s best overall dealer after outlasting a field of 27 entrants in 2024.
