Authorities in Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City have charged 12 suspects linked to two large-scale football betting syndicates, bringing the total number of people indicted in the case to 97, according to police.
Local media outlet Vietnam Net reported that the indictments are related to two recently dismantled betting operations that have processed over US$134 million in betting transactions since October 2025.
This follows lengthy investigation by the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department’s Criminal Police Division, working alongside Lam Dong Provincial Police and police units from multiple localities. The latest suspects were arrested as part of ongoing investigative work.
Information from police claim that the syndicates established master betting accounts in Cambodia which were then divided into multiple agent and member accounts and distributed to customers in Ho Chi Minh City and elsewhere via an online betting site called Bong88.com.
VietnamNet said the syndicates were highly structured with clearly defined management levels.
