Crown Melbourne executives on Thursday hailed the incredible success of this year’s Aussie Millions Poker Championship Presented by CrownBet, revealing even the Crown team has been taken aback by the overwhelming response of the poker playing community.
Returning for the first time in six years to Crown Melbourne following the COVID-19 pandemic and other well-publicized issues, the 2026 Aussie Millions has seen record numbers across a majority of its side events, while the Main Event itself – which enters Day 3 of play today – saw a total of 770 players stump-up the AU$10,600 entry fee. This fell only marginally shy of the all-time record of 822 players set in 2019.
Ed Domingo, CEO of Crown Melbourne, told Inside Asian Gaming, “We’re thrilled with the response to the return of Aussie Millions. We always knew it held a special place for players in Australia and around the world, but we expected it might take a year or two to reestablish its position on the global circuit.
“To see 770 entries in the Main Event in our first year back is a real endorsement of both the tournament’s legacy and the world-class experience our Crown team has delivered.”
Harold Tsakmaklis, Crown’s Executive General Manager Gaming, added, “Reaching 770 entries in the Aussie Millions Main Event is a phenomenal result – and a powerful reminder of the prestige this tournament still commands on the world stage. We’re incredibly grateful to the global poker community, whose passion and loyalty continue to make the Aussie Millions a must‑play event.
“And none of this happens without the Crown team – a world‑class group who pour everything into delivering an elite experience for every single player who comes through our doors.”
IAG Vice Chairman and CEO Andrew W Scott is one of the 176 remaining players returning for Day 3 today, sitting with a stack of 73,000.
The 2026 Aussie Millions offers 18 events over 17 days with the Main Event running for five days, concluding this coming Sunday.
