The 2026 Aussie Millions Poker Championship is bubbling away at Crown Melbourne, with multiple records tumbling since the series kicked off on Friday.
The first three events of this year’s Aussie Millions have all set new records for player numbers and prize pools, none more so than the $1,500 Opening Event which attracted a field of 2,144 starters to smash the previous record of 1,752 players for that particular event.
Australia’s Josh Duce ultimately took down the Opening Event overnight, turning his AU$1,500 (US$1,077) investment into a massive AU$438,000 (US$314,500) payday.
Also setting a new record at its price point was the mixed game H.O.R.S.E. event, which drew a field of 64 entries, while the popular $5k 6-Max drew 305 players with 16 of those players returning today to fight it out for the $341,635 top prize.
Those still in the mix include local favorites Andy Lee, Lachlan Crilly, Joe Sandaev, Higor Siebel and Rehman Kassam, although all eyes will be on one man – Aussie Millions ambassador and defending WSOP Main Event champion Michael Mizrachi – who will be hoping to add yet another trophy to his substantial collection.
Crown’s Executive General Manager of Gaming, Harold Tsakmaklis, said the Crown Poker team should be “very, very proud of what we’ve achieved” with the poker room absolutely buzzing during the early days of the series – and with the Main Event itself still some five days away.
