Kjerulf Ainsworth has increased his stake in Ainsworth Game Technology (AGT) to 9.55% following a series of on-market purchases in recent months as he continues to enhance his influence. The company’s second largest shareholder behind parent Novomatic AG had previously held an 8.17% interest as of 12 March 2026 – the date the previous notice of a change in interests was filed.

According to details contained in a new notice filed with the ASX on Wednesday, Kjerulf – the son of AGT founder Len Ainsworth – has purchased an additional 4,638,428 shares via a series of transactions since 12 March, including 2,083,000 shares two days ago on Tuesday 2 June. The purchase price ranges from AU$1.05 to AU$1.60.

The update comes after Kjerulf told Inside Asian Gaming last week that he has no intention of selling his stake in the company and plans to continue pursuing legal action on behalf of minority shareholders after successfully seeing two key resolutions put forward by Novomatic at the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) voted down.

Kjerulf has made no secret of his dissatisfaction with the governance of AGT by the current management team and controlling shareholder Novomatic, stating, “Ultimately, the key issue remains unchanged. Ainsworth needs better governance, it needs stronger management, it needs proper accountability and shareholders deserve transparency about what’s happened in the past and what’s happening now. That’s really what this entire dispute comes down to.”
