The World Poker Tour will return to Australia this year, confirming overnight that The Star Sydney will host the WPT Australia festival from 10 to 30 September 2026.

This year’s festival will feature two marquee championship events – the AU$1,500 WPT Prime Australia from 17 to 22 September and the AU$5,000 WPT Australia Championship from 24 to 30 September.

Final tables for both championship events will be livestreamed, allowing poker fans from around the world to follow the action from Sydney.

This represents the first time both the WPT Prime Australia Championship and WPT Australia Championship have been held as part of the same festival. A variety of satellites will be run to provide players opportunities to qualify for both events at a fraction of the buy-in.

The festival will also feature an AU$500 Ladies Australian Championship on 15 and 16 September alongside a wide range of Pot Limit Omaha, bounty and other popular tournament formats.

“We are thrilled to return to The Star Sydney for another WPT Australia festival,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Australia continues to be one of the world’s most passionate poker regions and we look forward to welcoming players from around the globe as we crown the next WPT Champion.”
