It’s been six long years since the last Aussie Millions champion was crowned and finally today the journey begins to etch then next name into the history books.
It was nine days ago that the first of 18 events at the 2026 Aussie Millions got underway but today it’s the big one – the return of the Aussie Millions Main Event.
Boasting a litany of poker legends among its list of past winners, including high-stakes great Gus Hansen, British gambler Tony Bloom and all-time poker money list leader Bryn Kenney, the Main Event remains one of the most sought-after titles in the world.
It historically attracted the biggest names in the poker world to Australia’s shores, lured by the exceptional service of the Crown Melbourne staff, the resort’s impressive amenities and the many attractions the city of Melbourne has to offer.
And the poker action is hard to match, too. This past week alone has seen records fall by the wayside, with Tournament Director Danny McDonagh revealing this week that he now expects the total series prize pool to surpass AU$20 million. Original forecasts were for around AU$14 million.
The Main Event will see three Day 1 flights over the next three days after which surviving players will come together for Day 2 on Thursday. Those who make it all the way to the Final Table will play a full five days of poker in the hopes of being crowned the 2026 Aussie Millions Main Event.
