Genting Malaysia has announced the retirement of long-time executive and current President Lee Choong Yan, who has been redesignated as a Senior Advisor.

According to information filed by the company, Lee was redesignated as Senior Advisor and Executive Director on 1 March and will retire as Senior Advisor on 30 April. From 1 May 2026 he will be redesignated again as non-independent non-executive director.

His retirement will effectively bring to an end a 30-year career with Genting Malaysia, including the past 20 years in senior executive roles. Appointed President and COO of the company on 1 August 2006, he joined the Board of Directors on 1 January 2020 and was named President and Executive Director on 1 April 2022.

Lee is also CEO of Genting UK Plc, where the Group owns and operates over 30 casinos plus the Resorts World Birmingham integrated resort, and he oversees Genting Malaysia’s businesses in the United States and Bahamas. Genting Malaysia was recently granted a full casino license for its Resorts World New York City racino.

In announcing his departure, Genting Malaysia noted that Lee has been responsible for the development and implementation of corporate strategies as well as management of the operations of the company and its subsidiaries.

A former investment banker, he joined the Genting Group in 1997.
