Enjoying the immense support of the Macau SAR government and of more than 150 of the largest entertainment companies in Asia, the MGS Entertainment Show 2017 will hold its annual exhibition and summit this year at The Venetian Macao on November 14 to 16. This event was recently awarded the coveted status of a UFI Approved International Event by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), indicating that the MGS Entertainment Show’s impeccable organization has earned the approval of the worldwide exhibition industry.

In keeping with its theme of innovation and interactive, the exhibition this year is organized with a series of related events in the hope of infusing Macau’s entertainment industry with the creative and innovative ideas of the younger generation and to encourage the growth of related industries in order to create more employment and business opportunities. The Macau Gaming Equipment Manufacturers Association (MGEMA), the organizer of the MGS Entertainment Show, invited the Macau Creative and Innovative Industry Association to assist in hosting a range of competitions recently, including in the areas of color scheme seating design, slot machine design, slot machine background music composition, essays on responsible gaming (university level and high school level) and animation design.

Works submitted for the various competitions were carefully judged by professionals from the creative and innovative industries in an open and impartial nature based on standards including but not limited to the idea presented and creativity involved, the development of a central theme and its expression, the relevance, the skills applied and the resultant product. All competitions except the color scheme, seating design, high-school-level essay and animation design were open to Macau citizens over the age of 21. Individual participants and collaborating groups of 5 or fewer were welcome.

Ms. Celia Cheung of the Macau Creative and Innovative Industry Association stated, “Since the official launch of registration for the contests in July, we have received positive acclaim from all. Almost 100 entries submitted by various schools, associations, and other sectors of our society have been received. The various competitions have been organized to promote creativity and innovative thinking in younger generations and to encourage a positive attitude towards the development of the Macau entertainment industry so as to enable the creation of more job opportunities in the long run.”

The competitions have officially ended and all award winners have been notified. Winners of the first prizes in their respective categories have been awarded MOP2,000-20,000 and a certificate. All other winners and qualifiers have also received awards.

The MGS Entertainment Show 2017 will support Macau’s five-year development plan and the One Belt and One Road Initiative. Harnessing the convenience of Macau’s geographical location and the advantages created by the development of the entertainment industry in Southeast Asia and benefiting from the strategy deployed along the Silk Road connecting the entertainment industry of China to those countries along the belt, Macau will act as a platform for communication and facilitate exchanges between the East and the West, hence becoming an international center for information, distribution, transport and manufacture related to tourism and leisure. The event this year will focus on the idea of the smart city, showcasing different interpretations of a smart city by demonstrating technological innovations. The exhibition theme will be expressed through casual, interactive experiences in the areas of intelligent lifestyle systems, intelligent business systems, intelligent transport system, and intelligent production systems to create a wholesome and dynamic experience. It is our hope that the MGS Entertainment Show 2017 will strengthen the bond between Macau and neighboring regions, encourage economic development, and consolidate Macau’s position as a world center of tourism and leisure.
