Sands China Ltd has announced the appointment of Mr Dave Sun as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the company.

A veteran of almost a decade with Sands China, Mr Sun was originally appointed as a Director of Finance in August 2007 before being promoted to Senior Vice President of Finance in 2013. During his tenure as Director of Finance, Mr Sun was responsible for managing financial strategy and financial planning and analysis for Sands China and played a key role in managing the company’s initial public offering in 2009.

After his promotion to Senior Vice President of Finance, Mr Sun’s role expanded to include the oversight of the company’s accounting, treasury, tax and information technology functions.

His arrival comes two months after the sudden resignation of former MTR Corp Finance Director Stephen Law Cheuk-kin, who quit in February after just four months in the role.

Prior to joining the Company, Mr Sun held a variety of financial controller and financial management positions with various divisions of General Electric in Shanghai and Singapore.

Mr Sun graduated from Fudan University in Shanghai in 1996 with a Bachelor degree in Economics and Financial Management and a minor in Computer Science and Application. He subsequently obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Southern Illinois University Carbondale in the US. Mr. Sun is a fellow of CPA (FCPA) Australia.
