MGM Osaka, the US$10 billion Japan integrated resort project scheduled to open in 2030, has entered into a partnership with Japan Casino School with the goal of developing casino and gaming talent for the IR.
Under the partnership, the two companies will launch the “MGM Osaka Certified Course” in April 2027, with details unveiled at a media event on Thursday. MGM Osaka President & CEO Ed Bowers and President of Osaka University of Commerce Ichiro Tanioka were among the special guests.
Designed with the upcoming launch of MGM in mind, the “MGM Osaka Certified Course” aims to develop talent for the casino and gaming sector with the curriculum jointly developed by Japan Casino School and MGM Osaka.
The program is said to offer a comprehensive curriculum tailored to the specific needs of the IR industry. In addition to practical casino dealing skills, students will acquire knowledge in areas such as casino and gaming operations, gaming protection – including cash handling, fraud prevention, and precise operational management – hospitality and foreign languages, it was announced on Thursday.
The course does not guarantee employment at MGM Osaka but provides specialized education for students who aspire to pursue a career at MGM Osaka in the future, the companies explained.
In a statement, Japan Casino School said, “As Japan prepares for the launch of its first full-scale Integrated Resort, there is a growing need for specialized professionals to drive the casino and gaming sector. For over 20 years – ever since our founding in 2004 – we have been dedicated to the professional training of casino dealers.
“We view our partnership with MGM Osaka as a valuable opportunity to further build upon our long-standing track record in education.
“Through our ‘MGM Osaka-Certified Courses,’ we aim to develop talent that will excel at the Osaka IR, while also producing a large number of professionals equipped with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in the global gaming industry.”
