Foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) reported casino revenue of KRW37.3 billion (US$27.7 million) in September, up 7.2% year-on-year and 19.8% higher than in August.
The improvement came despite drop amount falling by 5.2% year-on-year to KRW323.7 billion (US$24.3 million).
The September result included an 8.4% year-on-year rise in table games revenue to KRW34.0 billion (US$25.3 million) and a 4.5% decrease in machine revenue to KRW3.27 billion (US$2.43 million).
For the first nine months of 2026 combined, casino sales reached KRW337.2 billion (US$250 million), up 5.8% year-on-year.
The improved September result comes with Korean financial group KB Securities having this week called for GKL to increase its capital expenditure in order to improve its offerings in time for the impending launch of MGM Osaka in Japan in 2023. Osaka is seen as a huge threat to Korea’s foreigner-only casino market because it is expected to attract a significant percentage of the country’s core Japanese player base.
GKL operates three casinos in South Korea in Seoul and Busan under the Seven Luck brand.
