Travellers International Hotel Group Inc, the operating entity of Manila’s Newport World Resorts, reported attributable net income of Php568 million (US$9.2 million) in the first six months of 2026, a better than 100% improvement year-on-year on the back of a 13% year-on-year improvement in EBITDA to Php4.4 billion (US$71.7 million).
This was supported by “cost efficiencies and a higher-margin revenue mix,” with the company explaining that strength in the resilient non-VIP segment and fast-growing non-gaming offerings more than offset a decline in volatile VIP volumes.”
Non-VIP gross gaming revenue grew 6% year-on-year to Php9.6 billion (US$156 million) over the period, with Travellers adding that the improvement reflected the “resilience of the segment and the growing contribution of its digital channels.”
Net revenue for the period reached Php15.2 billion (US$248 million), with non-gaming contributing revenues of Php3.9 billion (US$63.5 million) – up 12% year-on-year.
Travellers outlined its confidence that it would build on its momentum once additional capacity from the opening of Narra Palm Resorts and Villas at NWR and its new property Westside Resort in Entertainment City later this year.
The 1H update formed part of parent company Alliance Global Group’s results release, which saw net income grow 3% year-on-year to Php16.0 billion (US$261 million) – led by a shift towards the group’s “most durable and highly-valued income streams,” namely property, gaming and tourism, and alcohol.
The company, which in March deconsolidated earnings related to its subsidiary Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC) from its financial statements, noted that consolidated revenues would have grown 3% to Php90 billion (US$1.47 billion) if not for the new accounting method. GACD is the master franchisee for McDonald’s restaurants in the Philippines.
Alliance Global Group’s other interests include real estate developments through Megaworld Corporation and spirits manufacturing through Emperador Inc.
“In a demanding global environment, the strength of this Group is its mix,” said Alliance Global Group President and CEO, Kevin Tan. “Our recurring property income kept compounding, our gaming business grew earnings even as the industry moved away from VIP play, and our spirits continued to grow on a stronger portfolio. Diversified, high-quality earnings are what carry us through cycles, and that is where we continue to invest.”
