New Zealand’s SkyCity Entertainment Group is doubling down on the unique commercial value of its Sky Tower in Auckland as it consolidates finances and undergoes an asset monetization program, reopening its Orbit 360° Dining revolving restaurant following a redesign and menu revamp.

According to a Monday release, the group has upgraded the interior of New Zealand’s only revolving restaurant, located 190 meters above the city, while reconstructing the menu to focus on local patrons as well as international flavors.

Speaking of the change, Orbit 360° Dining Venue Manager Dau Duisenov noted that both the interior and menu are designed as an experience, stating “Orbit has always had one of the best views in Auckland. As the Sky Tower celebrates its 29th birthday, it feels like the perfect time to welcome guests back to our reimagined restaurant. The new menu and interior are just as memorable as the view.”

The relaunch comes as SkyCity recently agreed to sell off an office building and investment properties for NZ$74.5 million (US$43.5 million) nearby the integrated resort this year as part of an “Asset Monetisation Programme” aimed at repaying debt and providing greater financial flexibility.

There was until recently speculation over possible plans to offload its casino in Adelaide, Australia, after reaching non-binding agreements over former AML issues with South Australia’s regulator, resulting in a AU$21 million (US$14.7 million) fine.

This all comes as New Zealand opens up to online casino gaming, with operations expected to go live in December of this year. SkyCity already operates a Malta-based online gaming platform but has confirmed its interest in being licensed in its home country – providing an opportunity to leverage its database of patrons from its land-based operations.

The company has been making moves to improve its liquidity and concentrate its operations in recent months, with the reopening of the F&B outlet in its highly-visible Auckland resort accompanying the financial machinations.
