Long-time Sands China executive Sean McCreery has joined Manila’s Solaire Resort Entertainment City as the property’s new Chief Operating Officer.
Following industry chatter of the move in recent weeks, McCreery confirmed his new position via a social media update this week, adding more firepower to an executive team that has undergone a comprehensive overhaul in the past 18 months.
This included the departure of Tom Arasi as Solaire parent company Bloomberry Resorts Corp’s President and COO, later replaced by Greg Hawkins, and more recently the resignation of Cyrus Sherafat as Executive Vice President, Head of Gaming, who has taken up a position with Wynn Al Marjan Island in the UAE.
Damian Quayle, who previously worked alongside Hawkins at Australia’s Star Entertainment Group, became COO of Solaire Resort North last year.
McCreery departed Macau’s Sands China Ltd in late 2025 after 10 years with the company, most recently as EVP of Operations. Sands only stated at the time that he would “embark on a new chapter in his career.”
His arrival at Solaire Resort Entertainment City comes at a challenging time for Manila’s integrated resort operators, who are feeling the impact of a decline in VIP volumes due to lower visitation from South Korea and China, compounded by the Middle East conflict which has limited consumer spend across the Philippines.
Despite launching online brands Solaire Online and more recently FUNaloMAX in recent years to cast a wider net, Bloomberry fell to a net loss of Php125 million (US$2.0 million) in 1Q26 on a 13% year-on-year decrease in gross gaming revenue to Php16.8 billion (US$273 million). This included an 18% decline in GGR at Solaire Resort Entertainment City to Php10.0 billion (US$162 million).
