Philippines digital entertainment provider DigiPlus, whose brands include BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GameZone, revealed Wednesday it is part of a technical working group tasked with drafting new legislation governing the domestic iGaming, or eGames, industry.
The legislation is, it added, aimed at improving consumer protection and industry transparency with a focus on implementing tighter controls for payment channels and marketing restrictions.
The company issued a statement in which it reiterated its support for the ongoing development of a new, comprehensive regulatory framework designed to elevate digital entertainment industry standards across the country.
“As a licensed and leading online gaming operator, we continue to welcome collaboration and active participation in discussions with the Philippine government to achieve our shared goal of raising the standards of the industry,” said DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio H. Tanco.
“By reinforcing a market where only those who adhere to the highest standards of compliance operate, we ensure that the benefits of our industry – from job creation to essential tax revenues – are preserved for the Filipino people.”
DigiPlus said it remains committed to investing in technology and thoughtful design to develop responsible gaming safeguards that put player safety and well-being at the heart of every experience.
The formation of the technical working group is in response to new restrictions imposed last year, including a ban on all out-of-home advertising of gaming platforms by regulator PAGCOR and an order issued by the central bank for all direct links to iGaming sites be removed from e-wallet providers like Maya and GCash.
Those restrictions, which came amid calls from some quarters to ban the eGames sector entirely, led to a shrinking of industry revenues in the second half of 2025.
PAGCOR, for its part, recently revealed to Inside Asian Gaming that it is compiling a position paper that it plans to present to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) – the central bank – in a bid to have it reverse the delinking of licensed online gaming sites from e-wallet providers.
