The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has revealed there were a total of 300 suspicious betting activity reports in 2025, representing a 29% increase compared with the prior year – although reports out of Asia remained stable year-on-year.

According to the association’s 2025 Sports Betting Integrity Report, the 300 alerts, up from 232 in 2024, included 104 in Europe compared with 81 a year earlier, while North America and South America also registered increases with 47 and 44 reports respectively.

The 40 suspicious betting activity reports coming out of Asia was identical to the number reported a year earlier.

By sport, football and tennis continue to dominate suspicious betting activity with 110 or 37% of all reports coming from football and 74 or 25% of all reports from tennis. Esports and table tennis were responsible for 34 reports each.

The IBIA said the increase in suspicious betting activity reflects IBIA’s expanding global monitoring coverage and enhanced analytical capability. Through its Global Monitoring & Alert Platform (Global MAP), the association monitors over 1.5 million matches across more than 80 sports, generating over US$300 billion in sports betting turnover per annum.

Sanctions announced on the back of IBIA’s data in 2025 emanated from 54 matches proven to have been corrupted, with sanctions imposed on 24 players, teams and officials across five sports.

“Our 2025 data highlights a familiar integrity risk pattern, with football and tennis continuing to account for most suspicious betting activity,” said Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA.

“At the same time, the greater scale and reach of our Global Monitoring & Alert Platform means our ability to detect, assess and support investigations across markets and sports has increased. This is driven by operator intelligence generated by our membership and their continued commitment to identifying, disrupting and preventing betting-related corruption through collective action and information-sharing with our partners.”
