Hong Kong-listed gaming investor Century Entertainment International Holdings has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its existing joint venture partner – Philippines-based World Platinum Technologies Inc (WPT) – to enter into a definitive leasing and operating agreement in relation to the development, operation and monetization of online-gaming-related mobile apps.
The company said it would utilize WPT’s online platform and technology-based solutions to develop, operate and monetize 10 types of mobile apps, which are linked to the joint venture formed between the two parties in mid-2025 under which they began research, development, marketing and sales of WPT’s gaming system platforms and related content in the Asia-Pacific region.
In a Thursday filing, Century Entertainment explained that the joint venture company formed in June 2025 – Konphil Technology Company Limited – would be responsible for player acquisition, marketing, business development and the development and customization of the mobile applications, while WPT will provide access to its proprietary content and platform, conduct know-your-customer and anti-money laundering checks, onboard players, provide customer service support, operational and technical assistance, and furnish periodic data and performance reports.
Subject to the execution of a definitive agreement, WPT will be entitled to 15% of the net gaming profit generated from the mobile apps, to be settled on a monthly basis, the company explained.
Outlining the reasons for entering into an MOU, Century Entertainment said it “provides a framework for the joint venture company to cooperate with WPT in utilising WPT’s online platform, proprietary content and technical infrastructure for the development, operation and monetization of mobile applications, beyond the scope of the existing arrangements.
“The joint venture company is expected to leverage WPT’s experience and operational support while focusing on application development, marketing and player acquisition.
“The Board considers that the MOU is consistent with the Group’s business strategy of expanding its presence in the digital gaming and technology-driven entertainment sector and complements the existing joint venture and licensing arrangements with WPT.”
The move into online gaming comes after Century Entertainment last year terminated an agreement to operate gaming tables at a casino in Cambodia’s Dara Sakor. That agreement had been closely tied to the company’s Chairman and CEO – long-time Macau junket identity Ng Man Sun – who stepped down from his positions in late May 2025.
The company has, however, flagged the possibility of operating gaming tables at a casino in Vietnam instead, revealing late last year that had signed a non-binding letter of intent in such regard.
Century Entertainment was formerly known as Amax International Holdings, which under Ng’s watch – and thanks to his connections to Dr Stanley Ho – was a significant player in Macau’s junket industry. Amax also held a near-25% stake in the Greek Mythology casino which it wrote-off as an asset in 2019, some four years after Macau’s DICJ ordered the casino’s closure.
