The number of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) issued by Macau’s gaming operators increased by 7.9% year-on-year to 2,968 in the first nine months of 2026, up from 2,751 in the prior year period, according to data from the Financial Intelligence Office.
These formed 71.7% of the total 4,138 STRs recorded during the period, which was down from the 73.3% contribution over the same period in 2025. The data also indicates that the number of STRs slowed to 950 in the September 2026 quarter compared with 997 in Q1 and 1,021 in Q2.
The nine-month tally of Macau-wide STRs included 839 STRs from Financial Institutions and Insurance Companies, up from 789 a year ago, and 331 from “Other Institutions”, up from 212.
The Financial Intelligence Office said that it disseminated 94 of the 4,138 total STRs to the Public Prosecutions Office.
