Korean foreigner-only casino operator Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with local exhibition and convention company COEX under which the two entities will cooperate to develop tourism, MICE and cultural linkage programs for international tourists.
According to information shared this week, the agreement aims to leverage both companies’ tourism and MICE infrastructure and networks to offer “diverse tourism experiences” to foreign visitors while contributing to the development of the tourism industry and the local economy in the COEX area.
GKL has an existing relationship with COEX, with one of its three foreigner-only casinos – Seven Luck Casino Seoul Gangnam – located in the World Trade Center COEX MICE Cluster.
The MOU will see GKL and COEX develop a series of programs while also conducting joint marketing and promotions in connection with international conferences and exhibitions; identifying joint publicity and collaboration opportunities with other COEX MICE Cluster member companies and jointly exchanging and researching information on visitation and consumption trends among international tourists.
“I hope this agreement will serve as a foundation for providing more multi-dimensional tourism experiences to international visitors,” said GKL’s President, Yoon Doo-hyun. “GKL will grow into Asia’s leading urban tourism platform company through integrated marketing that effectively connects surrounding tourism infrastructure.”
Sanghyun Cho, President of COEX, added, “We will create tangible results through the combination of COEX’s MICE infrastructure and GKL’s capabilities in attracting international tourists. We will further expand our collaboration with COEX MICE Cluster member companies and related institutions to develop the COEX area into a representative tourism and MICE hub.”
