The Macao SAR Government has announced the appointment of Ng Sou Peng, Intendent of the Public Security Police Force (PSP), as the new Director of the PSP for a one-year term.

Ng joined the Public Security Police Force Immigration Department in 1996 and has over the years held various positions, including Head of the Immigration Department, Head of the Planning and Operations Department, Head of the Traffic Department, and Advisor to the Office of the Secretary for Security.

In December 2025 she assumed the role of Acting Director of the Public Security Police Force.

Former Director Ng Kam Wa officially retired in December 2025, concluding a police career spanning approximately 41 years. Since then, the Director position has remained vacant, with Ng Sou Peng serving as the acting Director.

The PSP has been plagued by multiple scandals involving internal personnel. These include allegations against three active duty officers for assisting a sauna business in exchange for substantial fees by secretly providing police inspection intelligence. Among those involved is a Deputy Director of the PSP.

The PSP is the primary Macau agency responsible for maintaining public safety and order, preventing and combating crime, protecting people and property, and managing traffic. It also oversees immigration and border-control functions, including the processing and monitoring of those entering and leaving Macau and combating illegal immigration.

Crimes related to gaming such as those committed inside the city’s casinos are handled by the Judiciary Police.
