Kangwon Land, the only casino in South Korea where locals are permitted to gamble, has launched a new infinity pool – the latest initiative in the property’s efforts to boost international appeal by expanding its integrated resort offerings.
Part of Kangwon Land’s High1 Resort, “Blue Sky” is located on the seventh floor of the Grand Hotel Convention Tower at an altitude of 800 meters. Full-scale operations would begin today, 31 July, the company confirmed.
Kangwon Land said “Blue Sky” is designed to allow guests to “simultaneously enjoy the magnificent natural scenery of the Baekdudaegan mountain range and a sense of wide-open spaciousness. As a premium resort space equipped with various facilities including an infinity pool, a children’s pool, and a spa, it was designed to accommodate a wide range of guests, from families to couples and friends.”
The infinity pool will be open from 8am to 10pm each day, operating in four “shifts.”
Kangwon Land’s Interim CEO, Nam Han-gyu, said, “Blue Sky is a new landmark that best captures High1 Resort’s distinct strengths: its pristine natural environment and its location on a plateau 800 meters above sea level.
“We will continue to expand our differentiated content to leap forward as a globally competitive integrated resort.”
As reported by Inside Asian Gaming, Kangwon Land is in the midst of a comprehensive expansion initiative, having outlined plans to invest a total of KRW3 trillion (US$1.9 billion) into transforming the wider High1 Resort area, including expanding its non-gaming facilities by revamping walking trails around the casino complex, building a wellness center and developing a luxury pool villa, among other amenities. It has outlined a goal of doubling the ratio of non-gaming revenue generated at the casino-resort annually from 20% to 40% by providing greater incentive for guests to increase length of stay.
