Melco Resorts recently released its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining a raft of impressive achievements across areas such as energy efficiency, community support, environmental sustainability and internal governance.
Guided by its RISE (Restore, Inspire, Sustain and Empower)sustainability strategy, Melco Resorts & Entertainment is taking a structured approach to sustainability, with initiatives being implemented across its operations under the leadership of Chairman and CEO, Mr Lawrence Ho.
In April, the company published its 2025 Sustainability Report, titled “RISE to Go Above & Beyond,” Integrating ESG considerations into strategic decision-making and daily operations, the report highlights how Melco is strengthening its environmental practices, supporting its workforce and embedding sustainability across its operations.
Demonstrating a commitment to transparent disclosure, Melco’s 2025 report adopts a double materiality assessment, evaluating sustainability issues based on their impacts across the value chain as well as the financial risks and opportunities they present.
Under “Restoring Our World,” energy efficiency measures across all Melco properties accumulated annualized savings of over 71.7 million kWh, equivalent to the electricity consumption of over 10,000 homes. Water efficiency measures have contributed to a water intensity reduction of 28%, with accumulated annualized savings of over 290,000 cubic meters, equivalent to 116 Olympic-sized swimming pools of water.
In the area of “Inspiring Our Communities,” Melco engaged over 4,100 colleagues in 486 volunteer activities through its “Simple Acts of Kindness” program, over 3,000 joined the “REACH!” sports initiative, and over 700 employees received support through the company’s “Feel Better” mental wellness seminars and counseling services. The company offered 1,400 courses, totaling 763,000 learning hours and 783,000 enrollments. Melco also donated over US$19.17 million to support local communities, SMEs and cultural heritage preservation.
In “Sustaining our Supply Chain,” Melco maintained its target of sourcing 100% OEKO-TEX certified bed and bath linen from suppliers. OEKO-TEX certification guarantees textile products are tested and free from harmful substances, ensuring they are safe for human health and the environment. Ahead of its target to procure 50% Green or Amber rated chemicals in 2025, Melco achieved procurement of 80%, with Green chemicals comprising 65%. Categorized in a traffic-light rating system – Green, Amber or Red – ratings are based on the extent that these substances are persistent, bio-accumulative and toxic to human health and ecosystems. Furthermore, 16% of sustainable seafood and 97% cage-free whole eggs were procured in 2025.
Additionally, in efforts for “Empowering our Business,” Melco established its Environmental Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (ESCSR) Committee at the Board level. Melco is placed in the 96th percentile within its industry group and was published in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for its 2025 CSA score.
“Since launching our RISE sustainability strategy in 2019, our ambition has been clear: to integrate sustainability into how Melco operates, not as a parallel agenda, but as part of the business itself. What began as commitments and targets has evolved into systems and practices embedded into how our colleagues work on a day-to-day basis,” said Ho.
“Maintaining consistency in how we govern, operate and deliver requires continued discipline and a clear understanding of both the opportunities and the constraints ahead. Together with our teams and our ecosystem of suppliers and partners, we are committed to enhancing the positive impact we can create.”
