Genting Berhad has revealed that a “fraudulent LinkedIn profile operating under the name “Cherry Cui” is falsely claiming to be an investor partner of the Genting Group.
In a fraud alert issued Tuesday, Genting noted that the Cui profile also falsely claims to hold “executive positions” in companies associated with the Genting Group. The companies listed are Genting Sky International (Group) Industrial Development, Yunding International (Group) Development Industry, Genting Sky Aviation Leasing Holding International (Group) and Guangzhou Genting United Industrial.
The gaming operator also noted that it had identified a WeChat account “operating under the name ‘Cherry Cui Shu Fen’ that is linked to an official account named … (Genting United).”
The group assured in the alert that it “has no association, affiliation or relationship of any kind with the companies listed above and the individual using the name ‘Cherry Cui’ or ‘Cherry Cui Shu Fen’ on LinkedIn or WeChat.”
Genting further indicated that it would lodge appropriate reports with relevant authorities.
Genting Berhad’s website regularly contains fraud warnings, as multiple parties have created misleading associations with the company online – even claiming association with top management of the group.
The company is currently under intense analyst scrutiny after launching New York’s first table games at Resorts World New York City (RWNYC), as one of only three operators to be selected for a full casino license in the state.
Subsidiary Genting Malaysia booked a 10% year-on-year increase in groupwide revenue in 1Q26 to MYR2.87 billion (U$724 million), but fell to an MYR25.2 million (US$6.4 million) net loss on pre-opening expenses in New York and higher payroll costs elsewhere.
