The Macao SAR Government revealed via the Official Gazette that the management and operation of the Taipa Ferry Terminal Heliport has been awarded to Macau Heliport Services Co Ltd.
Unlike its usual practice, the government did not award the management of this public facility through a public tender, opting instead for a direct award. The Chief Executive’s directive pointed out that this is because Macau Heliport Services Co Ltd possesses special technical qualifications in airport management and operation. Directing the exclusive concession of the Taipa Terminal Heliport to them brings significant benefits to the SAR, it explained.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Macau (AACM) previously indicated that the Taipa Ferry Terminal Heliport is actively preparing for operations.
“The government will fully consider how to better develop helicopter services in the Greater Bay Area and welcomes helicopter operators from other regions to apply for cross-border passenger services between their regions, Macau and the Greater Bay Area,” the AACM stated.
The Taipa Ferry Terminal is equipped with one helicopter landing pad and five helicopter parking bays. Although it was completed in 2017, it was left idle for a long time due to an incomplete fuel supply system and supporting facilities. Following years of planning and renovation, its interior decoration works commenced at the end of 2024 and were completed in April 2025.
The cross-border ferry routes at the Taipa Ferry Terminal are primarily operated by Cotai Water Jet. As a major hub for travel between Macau, Hong Kong and surrounding areas, the terminal also hosts a small number of routes operated by TurboJET and Yuet Tung Shipping.
