Wynn Resorts CEO Craig Billings was one of several senior members of the US-China Business Council (USCBC) to meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New York last week to discuss trade and investment issues.
According to a statement from USCBC, the meeting – which also included delegates from the National Committee on US-China Relations (NCUSCR) – saw discussion of market access issues, the importance of a level playing field for US companies in China and the need for a fair, predictable and stable business environment. The outcomes of the recent summit between US President Donald Trump and China’s President Xi Jinping in Beijing were also discussed.
Billings sits on the Board of Directors of USCBC alongside several prominent members of the US business community, including Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Patrick Dumont.
Wynn Resorts is the controlling shareholder of Wynn Macau Ltd, which operates two integrated resorts with casino gaming in the Macau SAR – Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace. Billings is also CEO and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Ltd.
Among the other participants at last week’s meeting with Foreign Minister Wang were USCBC Board Director, NCUSCR Executive Vice Chairman and Chairman and CEO of Chubb Ltd Evan G. Greenberg; Chairman and CEO of Merck & Co Robert M. Davis; President and CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies Stéphane de La Faverie; CEO of Atlas Air Worldwide Michael Steen; CEO of Condé Nast Roger Lynch; and USCBC President Sean Stein.
“Today’s meeting was an important opportunity to hear more about the important agreements reached by the two presidents in Beijing and to raise some of the most pressing issues affecting US business in China,” said Stein. “The consensus between President Trump and President Xi is bringing much needed stability and predictability to the relationship. We are now looking for the two sides to focus on the long-standing barriers and market access issues that harm business and undermine stability.”
USCBC describes itself as a private, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of major American companies that do business in China. Established in 1973, it represents many of the world’s most iconic brands and for more than 50 years has advocated on behalf of US business while promoting the many benefits of commercial exchange between the US and China.
