Macau’s Official Gazette has published an appointment notice stating that Ng Wai Han, Director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), will be reappointed for a further one-year term starting from 7 May.
Ng, formerly head of the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP), took up the post of DICJ Director on 7 May 2025 for a one-year term. With her term nearing its end, it is now confirmed that she will continue on in the role.
According to the Official Gazette, the reappointment is based on her “civic integrity, appropriate experience and professional competence” to perform the duties of the office.
Public records show that Ng began her public service career in 1999 and spent more than 20 years at the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL). She first served as a senior technical officer in the legal division and later continued to hold various posts within the bureau. She was promoted to Deputy Director of DSAL in 2017, appointed Deputy Director of SAFP in 2020, and became Director in 2023, serving in that capacity until 2025.
After Sam Hou Fai took office, former DICJ Director Adriano Marques Ho was transferred to serve as Director General of the Macao Customs, leaving the top DICJ post vacant for nearly six months until Ng’s appointment filled the role.
Meanwhile, the position of Secretary for Economy and Finance remains open following the resignation of Tai Kin Ip on 16 April.
The Secretary for Economy and Finance is a principal official of the Macao SAR Government and the direct superior of the DICJ.
