Former MGM China CEO Grant Bowie has joined the Board of Directors of Australia’s Star Entertainment Group as a non-executive director.
Star said in a Thursday filing that Bowie would be an observer to the board initially before assuming his director’s role once all regulatory and ministerial approvals have been obtained.
He is the second major external appointment to the board since Bally’s Corp and Investment Holdings Pty Ltd assumed a controlling 61% stake in the company late last year.
“I would like to welcome Grant to the Board and look forward to working with him to assist in delivering our strategic objectives and creating a sustainable future for The Star,” said Star’s Chairman Soo Kim.
Grant Bowie brings over 40 years’ experience in tourism, gaming and hospitality to the role, having started his career in finance in New Zealand, the United States and Australia before working with Hilton Hotels Corporation in Australia for 16 years in various executive roles.
He moved to Macau in 2003 where he opened Wynn Macau in 2006 before joining MGM shortly after the launch of MGM Macau in 2008.
He served as MGM China’s long-time CEO and Executive Director, retiring in late May 2020.
Bowie has been a member of the Judging Panel for IAG’s Asian Gaming Power 50 every year since 2021.
