Vietnam set a new first quarter record for international visitor arrivals in 1Q26, with the 6.76 million arrivals representing a 12.4% year-on-year increase, according to information from the General Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.
Media outlet VietnamNet reports that the Q1 result was headed by arrivals from China, which contributed 1.4 million visitors, followed by South Korea with almost 1.33 million. Russia contributed more than 367,000 visitors, Cambodia 330,000, Taiwan over 316,000, the US more than 302,000 and India nearly 243,000, the data shows.
However, it did note that the growth rate of arrivals from China has slowed from last year. Conversely, arrivals from the Philippines were up 69.3% in 1Q26, from Cambodia by 41%, from Indonesia by 44% and from Singapore by 30%.
The biggest mover in recent times has been Russia. Arrivals from Russia grew by almost 195% year-on-year in 1Q26, having previously seen visitor numbers almost triple in FY25.
Vietnam welcomed a total of 21.2 million visitor arrivals last year and is aiming to surpass 25 million in 2026, with target tourism revenue of around US$46 billion based on recent growth.
The country is home to a handful of foreigner-only casinos and integrated resorts, plus two casinos granted permission to welcome locals under strict conditions – Corona Resort and Casino in Phu Quoc and the most recent addition in The Grand Ho Tram.
