Singapore’s Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA) has a new Chairman with the Ministry of Home Affairs announcing the appointment of former police commissioner Hoong Wee Teck, effective 1 April 2026.
He succeeds Tan Hee Tow, who has been chairman since 2018.

Hoong, until now the Deputy Chairman of the GRA, is the former Commissioner of Police with 38 years of service in the Singapore Police Force, including 11 years as its Commissioner, according to information from the Ministry.
It also thanked Tan for his contributions, noting that under his leadership the GRA underwent a strategic transformation from a casino regulator to national regulator of all forms of gambling in Singapore.
During this journey, the Ministry said Tan “ably steered GRA’s priorities and development, whilst maintaining strong governance oversight. His leadership has helped GRA to effectively fulfil its responsibilities of keeping gambling in Singapore free from criminal influence and minimizing its harms to Singapore society.”
