According to figures released by the city’s Public Security Police Force, as of 11:00am on Saturday 21 March the cumulative number of inbound visitor arrivals to Macau in 2026 had exceeded 10 million – reaching the milestone 12 days earlier than last year.
This comes after Macau welcomed an all-time high of 40.06 million arrivals in 2025, exceeding by 1.6% the previous record of 39.4 million set in 2019.
The data shows that the latest milestone represents average daily visitor volume of 126,000 so far this year, representing an increase of around 14% year-on-year.
Statistics also indicate that visitors from mainland China remain the primary source, accounting for about 75% of the total. This is followed by visitors from Hong Kong at 15%, Taiwan at 2.5% and overseas visitors at 6.6%.
In terms of border checkpoint usage, the Border Gate checkpoint is the most popular, with a utilization rate of over 44%, followed by the Macau Port of the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge with nearly 20% and the Hengqin checkpoint with 16%.
The Public Security Police Force noted that the visitor mix and border-crossing patterns reflect Macau’s continuing and growing appeal as a tourism city.
