Melco Resorts & Entertainment has announced that it will rebrand the former Countdown Hotel as REM at City of Dreams Macau once an ongoing transformation project is complete later this year.
The company had revealed in August plans to rebrand Countdown and convert its 330 standard hotel rooms converted into 150 high-end suites.
In a Tuesday social media post, Melco said it would launch REM at City of Dreams Macau in the second half of 2026.

“Redefining contemporary luxury through its ultimate suite experience, avant-garde artistic design and innovative service, REM marks the start of an unprecedented journey of inspiration, further strengthening City of Dreams’ unique position as an integrated resort,” the post stated.
During Melco’s 3Q25 earnings call last year, Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho said the new all-suite product would boast an average room size “in excess of 1,000 square feet” – completing a comprehensive reimagining from its former identity as Hard Rock Hotel.
The hotel was “temporarily” converted to Countdown in 2017 because it featured an innovative Countdown Clock that counted down the days and hours until the opening of nearby Morpheus Hotel, also at City of Dreams, in June 2018.
A plan to revamp and rename Countdown as Libertine was never realized due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
