According to multiple Hong Kong media outlets, Wynn Macau Ltd has filed a lawsuit in the Hong Kong High Court seeking repayment of over HK$4.73 million (US$604,430) in outstanding debts and related interest from renowned mainland film producer Yu Dong.
Citing the petition, the reports claim Yu Dong, President of Bona Film Group, is a casino client of Wynn Macau with the parties having previously entered into a credit arrangement.
The lawsuit states that around 1 May 2024, Wynn Macau extended a HK$10 million (US$1.28 million) credit line to Yu Dong, who signed two withdrawal confirmation letters totaling HK$10 million.
The agreement stipulated that advance payments must be repaid within 14 days of withdrawal. Failure to repay on time would incur interest at an annual rate of 18% until full repayment, with the defendant bearing collection costs including legal fees and court expenses.
The petition states that the relevant funds were originally due for repayment on 16 May 2024 but that Yu Dong repaid only a portion of the amount. Around 28 January 2026, Wynn Macau attempted to cash a check previously signed by Yu Dong as collateral for the remaining balance of approximately HK$5.73 million (US$732,200) but the bank returned the check citing “consult the drawer.”
The petition states that after the check was dishonored, Yu Dong made another repayment of HK$1 million (US$127,780) around 1 February 2026, reducing the outstanding principal to approximately HK$4.73 million. However, the balance remained unpaid thereafter.
Wynn subsequently filed a lawsuit with the Hong Kong High Court on 3 March 2026 seeking a court order to recover the outstanding amount, along with related interest and legal costs.
However, mainland media outlet Daily Economic News cited Yu Dong’s personal lawyer as stating that all amounts involved in the current litigation have been fully repaid and the corresponding legal proceedings have been terminated. Yu Dong’s personal lawyer claimed the debt originated from Yu Dong providing a credit guarantee for a third party.
At time of writing, court documents or further public disclosures from both parties are still pending to clarify the specific progress regarding the dismissal of the lawsuit or termination of proceedings.
