Genting Singapore has announced the appointment of Lim Kok Thay – the Chairman and CEO of its parent company Genting Bhd – as Chairman and Director of Resorts World at Sentosa Pte Ltd, the operating entity of its Singapore property Resorts World Sentosa (RWS).
The additional role, which comes on top of his existing position as both Chairman and Acting CEO of Genting Singapore, will see Lim take on greater oversight of the RWS Board of Directors, with the company stating that he will be responsible for the board’s overall effectiveness and the setting of strategic direction and long-term objectives.
He will also oversee major projects and sustainability priorities, supervise senior management performance and CEO succession planning and take control of strengthening risk management, compliance and internal controls.
Day-to-day management of the resort will remain the responsibility of RWS CEO, Lee Shi Ruh.
Lim, 74, is currently Executive Chairman of Genting Berhad, Deputy Chairman and CEO of Genting Malaysia, Chairman of Genting UK, and Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of Genting Plantations. He also holds 15.7 million direct shares in Genting Singapore and 6.35 billion deemed shares via the family trust.
His latest appointment as Chairman and Director of RWS follows the retirement last year of Tan Hee Teck, the long-time CEO of both RWS and Genting Singapore. Ms Lee was shortly after named CEO of RWS and in August became President and COO of Genting Singapore.
Former INSPIRE President Chen Si joined RWS as COO in December.
