Macau welcomed a total of 915,696 visitor arrivals during the first six days of the week-long National Day Golden Week holiday period – already exceeding pre-COVID levels with one more day to go.

According to information from the Public Security Police Force, average daily visitation currently sits at 152,616 after 123,288 visitors entered Macau on Sunday. The current six-day tally now exceeds the 897,020 who arrived during Golden Week in 2019 and is closing in on the 931,000 who visited across the eight days of Golden Week in 2023.

The Macao Government Tourism Office had previously confirmed a high of 174,313 visitor arrivals last Thursday 3 October, while the city welcomed more than 150,000 visitors each day for four consecutive days from 2 to 5 October.

At that point, average daily arrivals were 37.4% higher year-on-year at 158,585, including a 54.8% increase in arrivals from mainland China to 678,067 or 135,613 per day. Arrivals from Hong Kong during the first five days of the holiday period were down 25.2% year-on-year to 79,895 or 15,979 per day.

The MGTO has forecast average visitation across the seven-day period to reach 130,000, having updated from an early prediction of just 100,000.
