The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 18 June has reached 1,675, with 31 new positive cases detected in the 24 hours to midnight at the end of Thursday 14 July.

Of the 31 new cases, 11 were found in the community with two of them a close contact, seven positive cases in mass testing and key groups and two cases in other groups. The other 20 were found amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.

As of 8am on Friday 15 July, a total of 20,529 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 3,053 close contacts, 11,277 “non-core” close contacts, 1,121 “sub-close” contacts, 254 general contacts and 772 accompanying persons.

In addition, there were 17 confirmed local cases and 39 asymptomatic cases in Guangdong, China. Zhuhai had the highest number of confirmed cases, with 9 confirmed cases and 29 asymptomatic cases.

The Zhuhai Xiangzhou District Government has announced several control measures, including the requirement of a 24-hour negative NAT certificate for all persons entering the district, entering public places and travelling on public transport. All tourist attractions and indoor venues such as cinemas and gyms in the region are closed. Food and beverage establishments will continue to be closed for dine-in.
