Genting Singapore has promoted long-time President and Chief Operating Officer Tan Hee Teck to the role of CEO.

The company announced Sunday it was satisfied that Tan, who has been President and COO since 2010, boasts the qualifications and experience to be appointed CEO – a position described as executive in nature.

“The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for executing the Board’s approved strategies, manages and develops Genting Singapore’s businesses, and provides leadership to the management team of the Group to ensure effective day-to-day operational performance and organizational excellence,” it said.

Tan’s new position comes 12 years since he first became President and COO with Genting Singapore.

There is no word yet as to who will replace Tan in his previous role, if anyone, although Genting Singapore also announced that Carolina Chan Swee Liang has been reappointed as Lead Independent Director for another three-year term, while Mr Ong Jinq Her has been appointed Company Secretary in place of Ms Liew Lan Hing.

Tan’s promotion to CEO represents yet another string to his bow at Genting Singapore, having previously been appointed CEO of Resorts World at Sentosa Pte. Ltd. (RWS) as of 1 January 2007 and Chairman of RWS as of 25 February 2015. Tan has held a variety of roles at Genting Group since 1982.

The company noted that he was responsible for its successful 2006 bid that saw it win a license to develop Resorts World Sentosa, adding that he “provides leadership and leads the management team at RWS.”

Genting Group patriarch Lim Kok Thay remains Genting Singapore’s Executive Chairman.
