The Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR welcomed representatives of Macau’s leading junket operator, Suncity Group, this week to officially thank the company for its recent efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yao Jian, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, welcomed Suncity Group alongside other officials including Director General of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Chen Guokai, Deputy Director General of the Social Work Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Dai Ruming, and Director of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Zuo Xianghua.

Suncity’s CEO Alvin Chau stated that, as a Macau enterprise dedicated to charity and community affairs, patriotism is part of Suncity Group’s core value. In the face of the pandemic, it is essential that the Group, adhering to President Xi’s call on entrepreneurs, takes on its social responsibilities and supports the country and the SAR in implementing the anti-pandemic measures, he said.

Suncity Group’s contributions towards fighting the pandemic have included a MOP$30 million donation to Hubei Province to purchase urgently needed medical resources for Wuhan hospitals, and the purchase of 20,000 surgical masks which are donated to Immigration and Customs officers at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge checkpoints.

Chau himself donated MOP$30 million and 60,000 respirators to Hubei Province through the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR.
