Universal Entertainment Corporation has executed a “Letter of Intent” with video gaming giant Capcom Co Ltd that will see the two companies collaborate over their amusement machines businesses.
The alliance intends to utilize Capcom’s history of developing industry defining content and Universal’s expertise in cabinets to develop, manufacture and sell pachislot machines throughout Japan.
Universal revealed on Friday that it will hand over responsibility for the development of its pachislot gaming content to Capcom while providing development assistance through the loaning of “content development equipment”. Capcom will subsequently grant Universal consent to use the copyrights in its possession as required in order to conduct sales and promote newly developed products.
In an announcement on its corporate website, Universal said, “With this business alliance, the company seeks to leverage the mutual strengths of both organizations to develop, manufacture and sell amusement machines together with Capcom and, in doing so, maximize the earnings power of both companies.”
Capcom is best known for developing some of the world’s most iconic video game titles including “Street Fighter” and “Resident Evil”.
