The number of confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 since the continuing Macau outbreak began on 18 June has reached 1,215, with 128 new positive cases detected in the past 24 hours.

Of the 128 new cases, 87 were found in the community with 36 of them close contacts, 38 positive cases in mass testing and key groups and 13 cases in other groups. The other 41 were found amongst people in quarantine, according to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Center.

As of 8am Thursday 7 July, a total of 15,116 people have been followed up by the government in their epidemiological investigations. These include 2,556 close contacts, 9,498 “non-core” close contacts, 792 “sub-close” contacts, 331 general contacts and 722 accompanying persons.

The Grand Lisboa Hotel was designated as a red code area on 5 July and about 500 people are now isolated in the hotel and will be sharing a room of two to three people. All of them are staff and hotel guests. As for customers, the Government considers that there is no need for segregation.

However, the casino has been closed following the red code area is designation.
