The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has announced plans for “regional and international expansion” after it was this week acquired by a newly formed entity called APT Events Private Limited.

The transaction, which ends the tour’s long association with Asianlogic Group Company, will see long-time CEO Jeff Mann step down after 12 years in the role to remain with Asianlogic.

Fellow APT veteran Lloyd Fontillas will, however, continue in his capacity as General Manager & Executive Tournament Director, with added responsibilities.

“For some time now, we have been looking to pass APT to a dedicated and focused poker organization that is capable of taking the tour to the next level,” said Mann.

“With such a long and rich tradition, it was of the utmost importance that any partnership or sale would only go to an organization with the same passion and dedication to continue developing the Asian Poker Tour as we always envisioned. Frankly, I’m pumped up by what the future holds for APT.”

Among those associated with the new owners is renowned Malaysian poker player Michael Soyza, who said, “Jeff and Lloyd have done a tremendous job of building the APT to where it is today. All the stakeholders, including myself, have been active participants on the APT for over a decade. We are beyond excited to work with the team and hope to reach new heights as we usher in a new era for the Asian Poker Tour.”

Formed in 2008, the APT recently wrapped up its 12-day APT Philippines festival and will next head to Vietnam for the APT Vietnam Hanoi Loyal 2022, scheduled to run from 7 to 19 June at Grand Loyal Poker Club.
