Korea’s Paradise Co and Japanese gaming firm Sega Sammy Holdings have announced plans to develop a “Smart Racing Park” as part of the Phase 2 development of their joint venture integrated resort, Paradise City, in Incheon, South Korea.

According to the joint announcement, the Smart Racing Park will be a new concept theme park incorporating Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-based gravity racing facilities, sports and other game activities.

To be located on Paradise City’s Phase 2 site in one of Incheon International Airport’s International Business Areas, the theme park will cover around 73,000 square meters with a cost of KRW85 billion. It is due to be complete by 2024 after a business agreement was signed between Paradise City, Incheon International Airport Corporation and Korean energy technology giant Monolith last week.

Officials said the Smart Racing Park was aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Paradise City post-COVID-19 and would appeal to both families and the MZ generation, which – comprising both Millenials and Generation Z – who prefer “unique experiences.”

Paradise Sega Sammy CEO Choi Jong-Hwan said, “If we firmly establish a cooperative relationship to promote common interests between the current Phase 1 and Phase 2 facilities, we will be able to achieve a successful tourism cluster establishment.”
