Veteran gaming industry consultant David Green has joined the board of Donaco International Limited as an independent non-executive director.

Donaco announced Green’s appointment in a filing with the Australian Securities Exchange on Wednesday as the company looks to add valuable experience following a turbulent 12 months.

It also comes just under a year since Green stepped down as Chairman of another Australian-listed Southeast Asian casino operator, Silver Heritage Group.

In its filing, Donaco noted Green’s extensive experience all across Asia and specifically in Cambodia and Vietnam – the locations of is Star Vegas and Aristo operations respectively.

A qualified lawyer and accountant, he is a former partner and director of the Gaming Practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers (Macau) Limitada and has lived in Macau for more than 14 years, having worked with the Macau SAR Government in relation to the liberalization and regulation of the casino industry.

Green also consulted to the Royal Government of Cambodia on the drafting of the proposed Law on the Management of Integrated Resorts and Commercial Gaming, which is currently being considered for adoption.

An Australian citizen, he holds a Masters degree in Law from the University of Melbourne, an MBA with Honours from IMD, Lausanne and a Commerce degree also from the University of Melbourne. He was admitted to legal practice in Australia in 1977, is a former Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants (Australia), the Taxation Institute of Australia and of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

His appointment comes at a time when Donaco finds itself embroiled in a bitter legal feud with the Thai vendors of Star Vegas in Cambodia, while former Managing Director and CEO Joey Lim is moving to prevent the sale of a sizeable stake in the company to a Hong Kong and Singapore-based investment firm. Lim’s employment was terminated by Donaco in March.
