The Hong Kong Jockey Club has named Michael Lee as its new Chairman for 2022/23, with three new stewards also elected.

Lee’s appointment follows the retirement of Philip Chen, who stepped down at Thursday’s Annual General Meeting after serving 16 years as Club Steward and the past two as Chairman, the HKJC said.

The new stewards are Jackson Woo Ka Biu, Ann Kung Yeung Yun Chi and Anita Fung Yuen Mei.

“I am truly honoured to take up the leadership of The Hong Kong Jockey Club,” said Lee. “With our world-class racing attracting even more fans across the globe and the very bright prospects ahead for the equine industry in the Greater Bay Area, this is a very exciting time for the Club.

“Equally, the Club remains strongly committed to its purpose – the Betterment of our Society. With the pandemic still posing a major challenge, we will work even harder to help those in need.”

Michael Lee has been named Chairman of The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

According to the HKJC, Lee is a Director of Oxer Holdings Limited, a Non-Executive Director of Hysan Development Company Limited and an Independent Non- Executive Director of Chen Hsong Holdings Limited.

He is actively involved with various non-profit and public service associations, such as the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee, the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled, the Hong Kong Equestrian Federation and the Sports Commission.

He also serves on the Court of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is a member of the International Advisory Board and School of Management’s Dean Advisory Board of Boston University.

Lee Holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowdoin College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston University.
