SJM was presented the “Leading by Example” Excellence Award for its contribution towards promoting patriotic spirit among its staff members at the fifth annual Business Awards of Macau ceremony held at Grand Lisboa Hotel tonight.
SJM and Grand Lisboa continued as the ceremony partners of the event for the fifth consecutive year. Dr Ambrose So, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SJM, remarked in his welcome speech, “SJM considers the Business Awards program to be extremely important in giving recognition to the organizations and individuals that are making extraordinary contributions to Macau’s economy and society. The value of the Business Awards program goes beyond recognition of the winners, as the program serves to motivate other companies and individual leaders to join the select group that is honored tonight.”
Mr Arnaldo Ho, Assistant Chief Operating Officer of SJM, received the “Leading by Example” Excellence Award for the company at the awards ceremony. The award recognized the leading role of SJM in organizing staff participation in patriotic education programmes in Jinggangshan, China since 2014, and in visits to the earthquake-affected area in Sichuan since 2008, during which the staff spent quality time with students of the two schools built with the donation of SJM and Ms. Angela Leong.
Ms Angela Leong, Managing Director, Chief Administrative Officer and Chairman of the Staff Welfare Consultative Committee of SJM said, “Through the Jinggangshan programme, our staff members come to know more about China’s modern history. The struggle stories of our forebears also remind them to hold to their convictions even in time of difficulties. We hope to cultivate the spirit of ‘loving the Motherland and loving Macau’ in the local community, and develop positive and noble traits among the young generation, so that they will set aside differences and stand united for a strong nation and a caring society.” She continued, “We are delighted to see our staff’s support in the numerous visits to Sichuan. This is another example of SJM’s commitment in promoting patriotic spirit and community engagement among our staff members.”
