Genting Malaysia has extended again the closure period of Resorts World Genting, as well as hotels and facilities at Resorts World Awana, Resorts World Kijal and Resorts World Langkawi, after Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin declared the nation’s Movement Control Order would remain in place for a further two weeks.
In an announcement on its corporate website, Genting Group said the Malaysian properties would stay closed until 28 April, having originally ceased operations on 18 March. However, it is also likely the closure will remain in place for some time with the Prime Minister stating over the weekend, “We must be prepared for this situation for a few months. It might continue until we are truly sure we have overcome the spread of this pandemic 100%.”
The closure of Resorts World Genting includes the casino, hotel facilities, food and beverage outlets, Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park, all entertainment facilities, attractions, shopping malls and retail outlets, although essential resort-based services such as security, utilities and clinics remain operational.
“Operations in our Resorts will resume upon the lifting of the Movement Control Order,” Genting Malaysia said. “We will continue to assess the situation on a daily basis and make the necessary announcements as more information becomes available.
“We would like to assure you that, despite the temporary closure, we have heightened our already stringent hygiene practices to safeguard the health and safety of all our guests and employees. This will ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable experience once we reopen.”
