Operations and marketing innovator behind Ponte 16
After a horror 2017 that saw the company suffer big losses after taking a direct hit from the devastating Typhoon Hato in August of that year – flooding the main gaming floor at Ponte 16 and forcing closure of the casino for a number of weeks afterward – Success Universe has hit back strongly over the past nine months. In August the company announced a profit of HK$14.2 million for the first half of 2018 – a considerable improvement on a loss of HK$23.3 million recorded in the same period in 2017, with group-wide revenue for the period climbing 75% to HK$478.5 million.
Ponte 16 benefits from some unique geography. As the only casino on the city’s historic Inner Harbour it’s got a sizable footprint, 2.3 hectares in all, which provides space for a more expansive offering than the run of its peers on the Macau peninsula: an outdoor pool, a fitness center and sauna, a L’Occitane-branded spa, nine restaurants, cafes and lounges and seven multi-purpose meeting rooms. The effects of Typhoon Hato have also prompted Success Universe to diversify and just a few short weeks ago it completed a full takeover of Canadian travel agency Jade Travel.
