Macau’s Health Bureau will implement mosquito control measures around the Wynn Macau integrated resort after a guest infected with dengue fever recently stayed at the property.
The bureau said on Sunday that it had received notification from mainland authorities regarding the person, who had visited and stayed in Macau. It added that in the coming days it will work with Wynn management to carry out mosquito control measures in the risk area around the hotel.

The Health Bureau also noted that considering the activity area of Aedes mosquitoes – the primary spreader of dengue fever – is within approximately 100 meters of their breeding sites, a radius of 100 meters around the risk area has been designated as the scope for the mosquito control operation.
Dengue fever is transmitted through the bites of virus-carrying Aedes mosquitoes and is not transmitted directly from person to person. However, if an Aedes mosquito bites a dengue fever patient, it remains infectious for the rest of its life.
