The Official Gazette of the Macao SAR published this morning an executive order by the Chief Executive announcing that the current Director of the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Ng Wai Han, has been appointed as Macau’s new Secretary for Economy and Finance.
It stated that, upon the nomination by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, the State Council made the official decision on 10 June 2026 to formally appoint Ng Wai Han as the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Special Administrative Region.
The Chief Executive’s order was officially published and promulgated today.
The post of Secretary for Economy and Finance was left vacant after the former Secretary, Tai Kin Ip, resigned for personal reasons on 16 April. Tai subsequently took on a role as a director at the Macau International Airport.
Ng assumed the leadership of the DICJ in May 2025, becoming the first female director in the bureau’s history. Her term was subsequently extended for another year in May this year.
Ng’s career in the public service began in 1999, and she brings over 20 years of civil service experience from her extensive tenure at the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL).
It is not yet known who will replace her as director of Macau’s gaming regulator.
