With the 2026 World Cup kicking off in just a few days’ time, Macau’s sports betting concession Macau Slot Co Ltd has launched a new exhibition called “Classic Revival: World Football History Exhibition” at Lisboeta Macau. The exhibition, running from 10 June to 19 July at Lisboeta’s H853 Fun Factory, showcases over 70 historic football artifacts, including an iconic World Cup Championship Trophy.
Organized into six themed zones, the event presents a systematic review of the development of global football from 1930 to the present. Items on display include symbolic trophies, jerseys and other significant memorabilia, offering visitors an in-depth journey into football history.
Highlights include 14 autographed jerseys by the Brazilian legend Pelé, tracking his journey to winning three World Cups.
Visitors can also take part in interactive displays such as a wall showcasing historic World Cup footballs and posters, offering several photo opportunities.
Stephen Ho, CEO of Macau Slot, told Inside Asian Gaming in an interview at the launch that the World Cup exhibition was set up the space of a month.
“Despite the short preparation period, we meticulously planned and executed this exhibition to present many precious historical artifacts, which is no small feat,” Ho said.
He added that the exhibition incorporates various interactive elements and photo hotspots, such as guided tours and a souvenir raffle zone, encouraging visitors to participate and experience the unique charm of the World Cup.
“These activities help create a lively atmosphere and help address the time zone challenges for fans watching the matches, enhancing their overall engagement with the event,” Ho explained, revealing plans for more immersive exhibitions in the future that will incorporate cutting-edge sound and lighting designs to enhance the visitor experience. “We also plan to feature memorabilia related to active players to attract a younger audience and further diversify the exhibition,” he shared.
According to Ho, Macau Slot is also looking to expand its community support initiatives. In recent years, the company has invested significantly in basketball, with its sponsored “MacauSLOT” team winning the Macau Men’s Basketball League Championship in the senior category.
The executive revealed that future plans involve greater investment in hardware facilities, including exploring the establishment of a local basketball or football team to contribute to Macau’s sports development.
“We are committed to shaping a diversified sports environment in Macau and will collaborate with more partners to advance this vision,” he stated.
“Whether through football-related exhibitions or other sports events, we aim to bring vitality to Macau, driving further integration of culture, tourism and sports for the city.”
